National Spinning promotes Booterbaugh, hires Hensley

 

WASHINGTON, N.C. – National Spinning Co., Inc. recently announced an executive promotion and management hire.

 

National’s board of directors unanimously elected James Booterbaugh as president of the company, promoting him from chief operating officer. The company also named Mitch Hensley technical products business manager.

 

Booterbaugh succeeds James Chesnutt, who will retain the titles of chief executive officer and chairman of the board.

 

“Jim has shown extraordinary talent and delivered strong results in his time with National Spinning,” Chesnutt said. “We could not have picked a candidate with a stronger track record of leadership, skill and industry knowledge.

 

“Jim will help us continue to support our core businesses while responding to new opportunities and challenges,” he added.

 

Booterbaugh, familiarly known to many as “Boot,” also serves as corporate secretary. He has been with National Spinning since 2004.

 

Prior to joining National, Booterbaugh worked at Harriet & Henderson Yarns, The Institute of Textile Technology and Milliken & Company. He holds a B.S. degree from Virginia Tech and an M.S. from the Institute of Textile Technology.

 

Booterbaugh is a former president and chairman of the Southern Textile Association and has served as advisory board member for the North Carolina Textile Technology Center. He currently sits as industry advisory board member for the TATM Department at North Carolina State University.

 

He lives in Chapel Hill, N.C., with his wife Ann and son Grant. Their two daughters, Maggie and Hayley, attend universities in North Carolina.

 

As technical product business manager, Hensley is responsible for sales and marketing to woven fabric customers as well as developing technical yarn products.

 

Hensley previously worked at Patrick Yarns, joining the company in 2007 as director of manufacturing. There, he directed activities at two plants totalling about 200 employees.

 

Prior to that, Hensley worked at Ramtex, Inc. from 1996-2007 as weave mill plant manager, yarn mill plant manager and sales manager.

 

He holds a B.S.B.A. degree in economics from Appalachian State University. He and his wife Suzanne live in Shelby, N.C., with and their three daughters, Hattie, Ella and Celia.

 

National Spinning Co., Inc., an employee-owned company, has been spinning and dyeing yarn domestically since 1921. National also operates three other divisions: 1) Carolina Nonwovens Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of nonwoven pads and rolls; 2) Hampton Art, manufacturer and distributor of consumer craft products; and 3) National Spinning, LLC, leasing real estate in Washington, N.C.’s Kennedy Creek industrial area. It sources and distributes worldwide.

 

Milliken names McCallum Floor Covering president

 

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Milliken has appointed Jim McCallum as the company’s’ new Floor Covering Division president.

 

He will report to Joe Salley, Milliken’s president and CEO.

 

The global floor covering division is a key focus area for Milliken, a diversified innovation company. McCallum will lead the award-winning division in continuing to create unique floor coverings.

 

McCallum joins Milliken with more than 30 years’ experience in the textile and carpet industry, including senior leadership positions at Interface, Mohawk and Lees Carpets.

 

“Jim’s experience in the global floor covering industry is unparalleled," Salley said. "His deep knowledge and proven track record of developing products, combined with his passion for world-class customer service, will make him an excellent leader for our floor covering division.

Landreth forms sales and marketing LLC

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Textile industry veteran Jim Landreth recently formed an LLC for his sales and marketing agency.

 

James B. Landreth Sales & Marketing, LLC handles sales duties in a number of areas, including industrial machinery and replacement parts, custom parts and assemblies for OEM manufacturers. With a team of agents, the marketing side of the business introduces products and services directly to the customer.

 

The firm also contracts for companies wishing to have a physical presence at trade shows across the country but don’t have a large enough staff to send personnel.

 

Currently, the company also markets the Baxter Robot by Rethink Robotics, Concord, N.C. The “teachable robot” can be trained to perform nearly any humanlike task, according to the company.

 

Landreth has 34 years of experience in the textile industry, working for such companies as Cannon Mills, A.B. Carter, Speizman Industries and Fab-Tech. He holds a B.S. degree in textile technology from N.C. State University.

Jill Curtis joins Crypton as director of Outreach

 

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI – Jill Curtis has joined The Crypton Companies as a director of Outreach for the Northwest and Southeast regions of the United States.

 

Based in the corporate headquarters here, Curtis will be responsible for planning and implementing Crypton’s corporate outreach programs, which provides strong educational content as well as valuable sales support.

 

Curtis comes to Crypton from Indiana Sports Corp, where she served as an event coordinator for the NCAA Women’s Basketball tournaments, as well as the Big Ten Football Championship, among other major sporting events.

Martex Fiber announces key executive appointments

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Martex Fiber Southern Corporation announced executive appointments in finance, marketing and operations.

 

David J. Kennedy was appointed chief financial officer and chief administrative officer. He was previously a principal with Scale Finance and CFO and COO of Perfect Fit Industries. He is also a registered North Carolina CPA. Kennedy will report to Rick Otero, CEO.

 

“David’s extensive textile industry experience in leading finance operations and restructuring make him the perfect choice to help Martex Fiber through our next phase of growth,” Otero said.

 

Kennedy previously held leadership positions at BASF Structural Materials as head of corporate reporting and as audit manager for Grant Thornton.

 

“My plan is to continue to evolve Martex Fiber’s finance function in driving the right business decisions,” Kennedy said. “I look forward to working with the Martex Fiber team to drive even stronger business results as we fully integrate the recent JBM and Bollag acquisitions and implement new ERP capabilities.”

 

The company also announced two other appointments. Kassandra Braun was named director of Marketing. Braun was previously director of Design and Color Development for Martex Fiber’s Jimtex recycled cotton yarn division.

 

Karl Kakadelis was also appointed vice president, Information and Technology. Kakadelis joined Martex Fiber from Mack Molding Company, where he was head of Information Management and previously an IT Consultant for Smarter Systems.

 

“Kassandra and Karl are key appointments for Martex Fiber, representing our next-generation of leadership to help us expand vertically into new geographies and horizontally into more value added areas of the textile recycling value chain,” Otero said. “I have a lot of respect for Karl’s track record in creating robust IT infrastructure in a business focused way while managing costs and risks. Kassandra’s past experiences leading design of our Eco-cotton yarns and getting robust customer feedback will be invaluable in creating the marketing strategy and communications to support our diversification into new recycled cotton end-use segments.”
