GREENSBORO, N.C. – Burlington, a division of the International Textile Group, Inc. (ITG), will demonstrate its multi-application No Fly Zone® (NFZ) insect repellent technology at the Intertextile Shanghai Show, scheduled for October 13-15 in Shanghai, China.

 

Pioneered by the Burlington Labs research team, the advanced technology employs Permethrin, a synthetic EPA-registered insect protection for fabrics – the first of its kind and similar to the natural insect repellent found in certain chrysanthemum plants. It works as a contact repellent affecting the insect's nervous system causing it to fly away before a bite can occur.

 

The patented technology has been proven highly effective against various species of crawling and flying insects, including mosquitoes, ticks, ants, chiggers, flies and midges. Permethrin-treated clothing, netting and camping gear is recommended by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention making it a must-have for the activewear, hunt, fish and military markets.

 

"This process is the next generation in insect repellent technology and is extremely consistent and durable," says Bill Dilanni, director of Research and Development for Burlington Labs. "NFZ utilizes our proprietary process that binds securely to the fabric's fibers, maintaining wash durability up to 70 washings."

 

Unlike other repellent technologies in the marketplace, NFZ can be applied uniformly to the full width of the fabric during the finishing process and can be combined with other performance finishes which provides greater flexibility and significant overall protection.
