SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Zimmer America declared 2014 as a record sales year in the North American market for Zimmer Austria's ChromoJet digital carpet jet-printing systems.

The company said it has sold its state-of-the-art ChromoJet carpet printers to customers in Suwanee, Ga. (Millenium Mat Company), Calhoun, Ga. (Marquis Industries), Scottsboro, Ala. (Maples Industries Inc.), and Cave City, Ark. (UniFirst Corp.).

Zimmer Austria serves the carpet industry as a leading supplier of digital jet-printing systems.

The ChromoJet technology is based on high-speed valves and its application goes from low-end velvet products up to high-end contract carpets. ChromoJet works by injecting dye into the pile of the textile.

The functional principle is similar to an office ink jet printer. Jets are arranged in groups and mounted on a print head, which traverses the mat. The computer-controlled jets open and close up to 400 times per second. The color pressure injects dye with surgical precision deep into the face of the pile without any machine parts touching the fabric.

All developments, machinery, control systems, electronics and software are developed and built in house at Zimmer Austria. Custom-made machines for all kinds of applications can be built flexibly.
