WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In response to increased demand for Champion and Hanes branded products, Hanesbrands, Inc. announced it is adding 75 jobs to its sock manufacturing facility here, beginning Jan. 1.

The company also said it is expanding production at its plants in El Salvador. Hanesbrands currently employs about 230 people at the plant.

The job will pay an average of $44,000 per year and includes benefits, according to a release by the Surry County Economic Development Partnership. The company also expects to invest $500,000 in capital expenditures as it increases production. Mount Airy is providing $67,500 in incentives for training and creation of the jobs.

"We are delighted to be able to add jobs at our Mount Airy facility," said Bruce Duncan, Hanes’ vice president of innerwear production. "We have an outstanding operation and a very strong workforce and management team dedicated to efficiency, product quality and safety. As a result of our team, our Mount Airy operation remains competitive in the global manufacturing environment."

Hanesbrands announced two years ago that it would eliminate 60 jobs at the plant.

Hanesbrands to add 75 jobs, invest $500K in Mount Airy, N.C.
