COLZATE, Italy and PUEBLA, Mexico – Itema, a privately held manufacturer of advanced weaving machines, is showcasing its innovations at a two-day open house in Puebla, Mexico.

The event spotlights the company’s latest weaving technology advancements with a focus on the best-selling rapier R9500 and airjet A9500 models. R9500 and A9500 represent the pinnacle of applied innovation and winning choices for producing a wide range of quality fabrics at high production speeds, according to the manufacturer.

In collaboration with the local Chamber of Textiles of Puebla (CITEX), Itema Open House Mexico is hosted by the Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla and its Institute of Design and Technology Innovation (IDIT), a veritable incubator of progressive ideas, whose students and academic staff thrive on generating and developing bold ideas in fields as diverse as renewable energy, industrial design and textiles.

“I am excited to be here today and grateful to CITEX for their invaluable support and to IDIT for offering the ideal location to present our innovations,” said Fulvio Carlo Toma, Itema Group Sales & Marketing director. “IDIT and Itema share a commitment to continuing education, to building up of expertise and, most importantly, to the spirit of innovation.”

José Miguel Brito García and Mariana Camarillo, CITEX president and general director, respectively, acknowledged their appreciation to Itema for choosing Puebla to stage the exhibition. They said in a joint statement: “The Puebla area is traditionally strong in textiles and CITEX takes it close to heart to nurture the development of current and future players in the sector. Collaboration with IDIT and Itema comes as second nature for the Chamber and we welcome the Italian producer’s commitment to growing our market.”

Dr. Javier Sánchez Díaz de Rivera, IDIT director, said: “We, in IDIT, strive each day to create a fertile habitat for our students to live and breathe innovation. We are glad to foster relations with companies such as Itema. Hosting the Itema Open House Mexico is an opportunity for our students to come face-to-face with the latest technological advancements in weaving machines and meet many important textile companies visiting.”

For Itema, year 2014 follows in the tracks of a stellar 2013, which meant +50 percent year-over-year increase in turnover. The company is the only manufacturer in the world to provide the top three weft insertion technologies: rapier, airjet and projectile, and continuously invests 6 percent of annual profits in research advancements of breakthrough innovations through its ItemaLab hub working on the “loom of the future.”

Mexico, and Latin America as a whole, is an important market for Itema, counting a growing number of customers and strong, long-lasting partnerships across the region.

“With SylTextil, our exclusive representative in Mexico, Itema is well positioned to offer customers here a complete, highly competitive offering of best-in-class technology and service,” Toma said. “We are convinced that we are now ideally geared to growing our customer base in Mexico and, most importantly, to ensuring our customers’ satisfaction, which is our absolute priority No. 1.”
