COLUMBIA, S.C. – Harris Pillow Supply, a family-run pillow manufacturer based in Beaufort County, S.C., is expanding its existing operations, the S.C. Dept. of Commerce announced.
The expansion is projected to bring $2.1 million in new capital investment and create 22 new positions over the next five years.
Founded in 1958, Harris Pillow Supply manufactures and provided high-end pillows to a variety of customers. The company has grown to service more than 7,000 customers in every state, along with multiple international markets. Harris Pillow is also the only company in the industry to manufacture its own pillow-renovating machine, the Pillow-Vac.
"We are blessed to have experienced a growth in business over the past few years and are tremendously grateful for the support given to us by our local chamber of commerce, Beaufort County government, as well as the S.C. Department of Commerce,” said Harris Pillow Supply Vice President Patrick Harris. “We are excited about the move as the new facility will enable us to install more equipment and expand into even more markets."
Currently located at 3026 Trask Parkway in Beaufort, S.C., the company will be relocating to a larger facility at 5 Parker Drive in Beaufort in early 2017. For its new, expanded operations, Harris Pillow will be looking for skilled and experienced employees to join its production and administrative teams. Hiring for the new positions is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2017.
"The fact that Harris Pillow has decided to expand its South Carolina operations is a huge win for the people of Beaufort County and for our state's growing manufacturing industry,” said S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley. “Our state is on the move in so many ways, and this $2.1 million investment that means 22 jobs is just one more example of Team South Carolina's hard work paying off for the talented people who make up our elite workforce."
