BERNARDSVILLE, N.J. and WATSONTOWN, Pa. – Offray Specialty Narrow Fabrics® announced that it has changed its name to OTEX Specialty Narrow FabricsTM.

 

“I am proud of our family weaving legacy that spans an astonishing 14 generations. But where once our family designed and manufactured decorative ribbons that brought joy to people’s lives, today we innovate and weave advanced fibers into narrow fabrics that save lives,” said company owner and CEO Denise Offray. “With a nod to our past, we kept our family initial ‘O.’  ‘TEX’ represents our textile heritage. Our new name represents the advanced manufacturer we have become. We serve the aerospace, first responder, medical, military, tactical and transportation industries with advanced narrow textiles.”

 

In 2002, Claude V. Offray, Jr. sold the assets of his ribbon business along with its brand. He retained sole ownership of Offray Specialty Narrow Fabrics and after her 40-year successful tenure working with and for her father, he put his daughter Denise in charge in 2008. Denise Offray has been sole owner and CEO since 2012.

 

She remains proud of her company’s 30-year legacy in service to the fire and safety industry. She is focused on continuous growth for the enterprise through strategic planning, the addition of leading textile experts to her Innovation Team and aggressive expansion into new markets.

 

The advanced fabric industry has acknowledged the results of her work. OTEX is an inaugural member of AFFOA (Advanced Functional Fabrics of America). A consortium housed at MIT that is funded with $75 million by the Department of Defense and $240 million from private enterprise, AFFOA brings together universities, government and private enterprises ranging from fabric manufacturers, to software and nanotechnology developers to develop the next generation of technical textiles.

 

“It is my objective to prepare OTEX Specialty Narrow FabricsTM to thrive for the next 14 generations,” Offray said. “Our name change is a timely and fitting acknowledgement of our efforts to address markets that require advanced narrow fabrics manufactured to the highest standards and toughest industry specifications.”
