MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. – American & Efird announced that, effective September 28, Fred Jackson will retire as chief executive officer and be elevated to non-executive chairman of A&E's board of directors. Les Miller will be promoted to CEO.
Jackson has led A&E for almost two decades and managed the company to achieve tremendous growth. Jackson's vision and leadership transformed A&E into a global supplier of premium thread. Under his tenure as CEO, A&E achieved record revenues and strengthened the company's culture of continuous improvement and focus on safety and sustainability.
In addition, the company successfully completed three transformative acquisitions of their former joint ventures in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and China, and the extremely accretive acquisition of Gütermann, the fourth largest company in the global thread industry. These acquisitions expanded A&E's geographic footprint, diversified its end markets and enhanced its ability to serve customers globally.
Miller has served as chief operating officer since February 2008. Prior to becoming COO, Miller led A&E Global Sales as senior vice president since 1999. Miller is well-respected across the industry, he embodies A&E's core values and possesses the skills and experience to successfully lead the company into the future.
