SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Milliken announced the acquisition of the assets of Pipe Wrap, Inc., by its subsidiary Milliken Infrastructure Solutions, LLC.

Pipe Wrap is a leader in the design and construction of composite materials for pipe repairs, providing custom solutions for structural reinforcement, leak repair and corrosion prevention.

The acquisition is the latest in the expansion of the company’s fiber-reinforced polymer business, serving both steel and concrete structures.

“We are excited about the addition of Pipe Wrap’s wide range of custom-engineered solutions to Milliken’s portfolio of industry-leading products,” said Dale Willis, vice president of Milliken’s building and infrastructure business. “Whether it’s concrete restoration or facility and pipeline maintenance, Milliken continuously explores new materials and methods that save time and money when rehabilitating, repairing or strengthening infrastructure.”

Pipe Wrap is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and has operations in Denver, Colo. Its two U.S. patents, with four pending, add to Milliken’s patent collection, one of the largest held by a private company.

“Pipe Wrap began in 1998 as an idea for a quick-fix pipe repair kit. It’s exciting to see it has grown into a leading business that is now part of a great company such as Milliken,” said Pipe Wrap CEO Genevieve Withers. “Pipe Wrap complements Milliken’s approach as an innovative solutions provider benefiting the oil and gas industry, as well as other infrastructure markets.”

For Milliken Infrastructure Solutions, the announcement follows the June 2014 acquisition of the assets of Edge Structural Composites, Inc., which produces strengthening systems for structural upgrades, corrosion repairs, seismic strengthening, and other applications. Milliken Infrastructure Solutions’ products include Concrete Cloth fabric, MaxCell innerduct, Geopolymers, along with additional innovative approaches to strengthening structures.
