COLUMBIA, S.C. – Mogul, a privately-owned company that focuses on the production and sale of nonwovens, is establishing its first North American operations – Mogul South Carolina Nonwovens Corporation in Gray Court, S.C., the South Carolina Dept. of Commerce announced.
The company is investing $17.6 million in its new operations, creating 38 new jobs from beginning of operation.
Established in 1997, Mogul is headquartered in Gaziantep, Turkey. As a global leader in the nonwovens industry, the company boasts a diverse product portfolio, including spunlace, PP spunbond nonwovens, PET spunbond nonwovens, BICO PET spunbond nonwovens and meltblown nonwovens, as well as coated and laminated fabrics and converted products made from nonwovens and composites.
"Mogul is excited to launch its new North American operations in Laurens County, S.C.,” said Mogul Tekstil, A.S. founder and chairman of Ekrem Kayali. “Through our new facility in South Carolina, we will be able to better serve our North American customers with our diverse offerings of quality nonwoven products. We want to thank the South Carolina Department of Commerce, the South Carolina Power Team, the Laurens County Electric Co-op and Laurens County, S.C., as well as all of our private and public sector partners for making this project a reality. We look forward to building a long, prosperous business venture in South Carolina."
To establish its Laurens County operations, Mogul is purchasing an existing 91,000-square-foot building, located at 100 ISO Poly Parkway in Gray Court, S.C. This plant will focus specifically on the production of spunlace products, which have medical, hygienic and personal wet wipes applications. Moving forward, Mogul expects to use its Laurens County facility to expand its already-robust product line.
Anticipated to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2016, hiring for the new positions is expected to begin in September.
"The fact that Mogul has decided to establish its first North American operations in Laurens County is great news for our state and for the company,” said S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley. “Mogul's $17.6 million investment and the 38 new jobs it will create is a meaningful commitment to the people of South Carolina, and we're proud to welcome this great company to the South Carolina family."
