WAKAYAMA, Japan – Shima Seiki Mfg., Ltd., a leading Japanese computerized flat knitting machine manufacturer, announced its participation in two trade shows this week.
The company is exhibiting at the Textillegprom Federal Trade Fair for Apparel and Textile in Moscow, Russia. In addition, together with its Korean subsidiary Shima Seiki Korea, Inc., is showing in the Preview in SEOUL exhibition in Seoul, Korea.
Russian show
In Russia, as pioneer of seam-free WHOLEGARMENT® knitting technology, Shima Seiki is showing its SWG061N2 compact WHOLEGARMENT® knitting machine, which can produce a wide range of WHOLEGARMENT® items in their entirety, without the need for linking or sewing. The novel SRY machine with loop presser beds yields conventional fabrics with special inlay patterns that are produced by inserting yarn into knit fabric in a weave fashion, offering new and exciting possibilities in hybrid knit-weave textiles.
The SSR series workhorse machine features such industry-leading Shima Seiki innovations as digital stitch control system (DSCS®) and spring-type moveable sinker system in a compact, economical package. The SFG-I glove knitting machine in ultrafine 18 gauge rounds out the comprehensive lineup.
Also exhibited is the latest version of Shima Seiki’s SDS-ONE APEX3 3D design system. At the core of SHIMA SEIKI’s “Total Fashion System” concept, APEX3 offers comprehensive support of the entire process of knitwear production, from planning and design to production and sales promotion, as well as capability for Virtual Sampling.
Ultra-realistic simulation capability allows Virtual Sampling to minimize the costly time- and resource-consuming sample-making process while enhancing presentation quality. APEX3 also supports design and simulation in a variety of other industries such as circular knitting, weaving, pile weaving and printing.
Demonstrations at the fair are showing how the various features of APEX3 can be used in e-commerce marketing of made-to-order knit accessory items.
Korean show
Recent consumer trends such as increased online shopping activity have changed supply chain requirements, with growing demand for mass customization and short turnaround. The combination of Shima Seiki’s pioneering WHOLEGARMENT® knitting technology that allows a garment to be produced in its entirety without the need for linking or sewing afterward, along with the SDS-ONE APEX3 3D design system, yields revolutionary game-changing flexibility in the knit supply chain to support such trends.
At Preview in SEOUL, the latest version of the APEX3 design system will be on display. To further enhance the capabilities of APEX3, Shima Seiki’s new web-based fashion service “staf®” (shima trend archive and forecast) is available. staf® is dedicated to empowering its members with the means to search and download from a rich stock of information as well as tools to organize that information to aid in fashion planning, design and presentation.
staf® features an information archive of fashion and color trends covering the past 50 years, as well as a massive collection of fashion-related content, covering materials, flat sketches, design patterns and collection photos. All this information can be neatly organized on a virtual concept board that can be shared across various devices, improving on planning efficiency significantly.
