ANDERSON, S.C. – Glen Raven Custom Fabrics has partnered with Hannah Solar on the largest solar array of its kind in Upstate South Carolina, Hannah Solar announced.

The 1 megawatt project is the next step in the company's sustainable journey, the provider said.

Glen Raven's decision to go solar came from the company's passion for sustainability, according to Hannah. Both of its plants in North and South Carolina incorporate recycling, water reduction – and now solar.

"We are committed to sustaining the communities where we live and work and are invested in seeing them thrive," said Edmund Gant, process engineer for Glen Raven. "Sustainability is a priority for our employees – it's our way of life."

The system, which is through Duke Energy's Solar Rebate Program, will offset 317 tons of waste annually – the equivalent of planting 2,500 tree seedlings annually – and can supply the energy needs for 105 homes, according to Hannah Solar. Construction is set to begin in a few weeks.

"We're proud to work with Glen Raven Custom Fabrics on this project," said Mark Cann, regional business development manager for Hannah Solar. "It's great to see a company that has a sustainable workplace and I hope they inspire more companies to follow in their footsteps."
