COLUMBIA, S.C. – Bondex, Inc., a globally recognized manufacturer of thermal-bonded nonwoven substrates, is expanding its manufacturing operations in Edgefield County, S.C., the South Carolina Dept. of Commerce announced today.

 

The project is expected to bring $11.5 million in new investment and lead to the creation of 17 new jobs.

 

Founded in 1996, Bondex, Inc. produces thermal-bonded nonwoven substrates for the filtration, medical and electrical industries. Additionally, utilizing state-of-the-art horizontal lamination technology, along with precision vertical coating towers, Bondex offers a wide range of high-quality, flexible laminate insulation material servicing the electrical market.

 

Located in Trenton, S.C., the company intends to expand its existing manufacturing operations to support its new spunlace manufacturing process.

 

"Bondex has been an important part of Team South Carolina for over 20 years and we couldn't be more excited that they have decided to expand in our state, creating 17 new jobs for Edgefield County," said S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley.

 

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Edgefield County a Set-Aside grant of $100,000 to assist with the costs of building construction.

 

"We are excited to move forward with our new expansion plans, investing $11.5 million in additional plant facilities and new spunlace technology equipment, allowing Bondex to provide a wide range of spunlace fabrics in various market segments,” said Steven Fransoso, president of Bondex, Inc. “The support and assistance received from the state of South Carolina has been tremendous – a true partnership in action."
