The new yarn-dyed stripes and plaids will be part of Mount Vernon FR’s custom-designed MY•FR program, and will be made using the brand’s 7.25-ounce AMTEX® PLUS 88 percent cotton/12 percent nylon FR fabric, which will be ASTM F1506 compliant, NFPA 70E category 2 and NFPA 2112 component recognized. Yarn-dyed fabrics provide improved durability and pattern integrity through the rigors of industrial laundering compared to printed fabric, offering customers a more premium option for their patterned FR apparel. Each customer-specific design will require a minimum of 5,000 yards of fabric, which will yield approximately 3,000 finished shirts.

“Many of our customers told us they were looking for patterned FR fabrics that are of even higher quality and more industrial laundry-friendly than those available today. We have found that yarn-dyed fabric is the best way to meet their needs,” said Mike Woods, vice president of FR fabrics for Mount Vernon FR. “We will work directly with our customers’ design teams to help translate their vision into finished FR fabrics that are truly their own. This new program will give customers a premium shirting option to go along with the character-rich flame resistant denims that we produce.”

Nanuq CWI is Mount Vernon FR’s new line of quilted FR fabrics. The face of these quilted fabrics will use the brand’s 88 percent cotton/12 percent nylon AMTEX PLUS FR fabric or 100 percent cotton AMTEX C100 FR fabric, and will initially be offered in 10-ounce, 13-ounce and 14-ounce weights. All Nanuq CWI quilted fabrics will be NFPA 2112 component recognized.

“Our recent survey of 400 safety professionals shows that there is a need for even more choice when it comes to flame resistant garments for cold weather applications,” said Woods. “Record low temperatures were recorded in many areas across the country last year, and Nanuq CWI will help companies be better prepared to provide both warmth and protection to workers that must brave the elements to get the job done.”

TRION, Ga. – Continuing with the brand’s commitment to provide the industry with the largest selection of cotton-rich flame resistant (FR) fabrics, Mount Vernon FR has introduced two FR fabric collections: MY•FR custom yarn-dyed stripes and plaids, as well as Nanuq CWI (Cold Weather Insulation) quilted fabrics.

These new programs will help meet the growing demand for FR clothing used to protect workers from potential hazards posed by electric arc flash and flash fires, the company said.
