HIGH POINT, N.C. – Culp, Inc. announced the promotion of Boyd Chumbley to executive vice president of Culp Upholstery Fabrics.

 

Chumbley is responsible for management of this division, including sales, design, customer service, inventory management, global logistics and quality assurance, and will oversee the company’s international operations in China and Poland. He will report directly to Frank Saxon, president and chief executive officer.

 

Chumbley brings more than 30 years of experience with Culp to this position. He most recently served as senior vice president of Operations for Culp Upholstery Fabrics and has held various senior management positions in finance, operations and manufacturing. He joined the company in 1984 as controller for one of Culp’s upholstery plants. Chumbley holds a bachelor’s degree from Radford University.

 

“Boyd Chumbley brings extensive experience and knowledge of our upholstery fabrics business to this position,” Saxon said. “During his tenure with the company, we have seen significant changes in our business model as we have evolved from a primarily capital-intensive, manufacturing company to a more agile and innovative, marketing-focused business. During this time, we also launched our Culp China platform, which just celebrated its tenth year of operations.
