VALDESE, N.C. – Janet S. Kuck has been appointed chief financial officer of Valdese Weavers, Michael Shelton, president and CEO, announced
Kuck succeeds Snyder Garrison, who is retiring as CFO and has become chairman of the board of directors of CV Industries, Valdese Weavers’ corporate parent company.
Kuck joined Valdese Weavers in 1987 as credit manager. She next served as controller before being named the company’s senior vice president of Information Systems in 2000. Prior to Valdese Weavers, Kuck was a CPA with McGladrey, Hendrickson, and Pullen in Hickory, N.C., and then with Butler & Burke in Winston Salem, N.C. She graduated with a B.S. degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
“Janet has been an exceptional leader and decision maker at Valdese Weavers for many years as a key member of our executive team,” Shelton said. “She is uniquely qualified to assume the role as our next CFO, and far surpasses the requirements necessary to manage all financial aspects of Valdese Weavers as a now 100 percent employee-owned ESOP company. Along with her accounting background and experience as our controller, when we instituted SAP as our enterprise resource planning system in 1999, she led the development and implementation of our FICO financial and controlling module that operates within the overall system.
“This means that Janet knows our financial system better than anyone and is extraordinarily qualified and ready for her new responsibilities,” he added. “She is also a great manager, who has earned the utmost respect from those on her staff who work at her direction, and from the other executives on our team who interact with her on a daily basis.”
