COLUMBIA, S.C. – O'Donnell Industries, a Greenville, S.C.-based manufacturer of pet beds, travel products and accessories, is expanding its presence in Greenville County as it grows to serve the European market. The $1.8 million investment is expected to create about 39 new jobs.

O'Donnell is relocating its manufacturing space to a completely renovated facility at 561 Bessie Road in Piedmont, S.C., effectively doubling its manufacturing space to more than 43,000 square feet. The custom remodeling will integrate the use of lean manufacturing principles to support accelerated volume production and enhanced operational efficiency, enabling the company to grow domestic sales while expanding into the European market for the first time, it said. Construction is underway with a July move-in date anticipated.

"South Carolina has been a fabulous home to our company since its inception in 1985, and we are excited to continue our growth here in Greenville County,” said Gary O'Donnell, vice president of marketing for O'Donnell Industries. “The encouragement we have received from our customers, suppliers and employees, along with the accelerating demand we see for our product lines both domestically and internationally, clinched our decision to expand here.”

Beginning as a basement start-up in 1985 by Norman O'Donnell, the company remains family owned and operated and sells products under both the Snoozer Pet and Restless Tails brand names, along with numerous private label lines for specialty retailers such as PetSmart and Petco.

Positions to be filled include sewers, assemblers, lean manufacturing experts, warehouse and other positions.

"O'Donnell's decision to establish its roots in South Carolina, and continue to grow more than 20 years later, speaks volumes about the entrepreneurial spirit that exists within our state,” said S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley.
