COLUMBIA, S.C. – Italy-based Pantex International S.p.A., a hygiene materials producer primarily serving the global personal care market, is establishing its first U.S. operations – Pantex Americas, Inc. – in Greenville County, S.C., the South Carolina Department of Commerce announced.

The $10.4 million investment is expected to create 45 new jobs in Simpsonville, S.C. over the next five years.

Established in 1987, Pantex first began to pursue a more global presence in 2007. The company's new U.S. operations will help further this effort, complementing an existing production facility in the United Arab Emirates as well as the company's Sulmona, Italy headquarters. Pantex's international growth is allowing the firm to better serve increasing customer demand.

Located at 844 S.E. Main Street in Simpsonville, Pantex's Greenville County manufacturing operations will focus on the production of perforated nonwovens, composites and films for feminine hygiene applications as well as elastic laminates for baby care and adult incontinence fastening system.

The 140,000-square-foot facility is expected to be fully operational by the third quarter of this year.

"This investment, giving Pantex plants in Europe, the Middle East and, now, in the U.S., will further strengthen Pantex's effort to expand its global leadership role in the hygiene specialty materials industry,” said Pantex CEO Gianluigi Fornoni. “Specifically, the U.S. investment serves two purposes – to expand the capacity of successful, innovative products such as 'cloth-like' top sheets and increase the speed at which we bring new innovations to our customers in the American hygiene market. Pantex's U.S. expansion reaffirms our commitment to customers in markets where quality, custom solutions and innovation are the main ingredients for success."
