Robert H. Chapman III, chairman, president and treasurer of Inman Mills, Inman, S.C., will be awarded the Chapman Award this week during the Southern Textile Association’s 106th Annual Meeting.
The Chapman Award was established by the Southern Textile Association to recognize individuals for exemplary service to the textile industry. STA’s Board of Governors voted to honor Chapman with the award. The award is named in honor of James A. Chapman, Sr., James A. Chapman Jr. and Joseph W. Chapman – all of Inman Mills and all STA past presidents.
Rob Chapman to receive STA’s highest award
In addition to serving on the board of Inman Mills, Rob currently serves on the boards of Tuscarora Yarns, Sage Automotive Interiors, Palmetto Business Forum (which he chairs) and Linville Resorts. His past board appointments, too numerous to mention, include a number of business organizations as well as civic and community organizations. This lengthy list of appointments speaks volumes of Rob’s leadership, character and service to community.
Rob received his B.A. in economics from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. He also completed programs from the Institute of Textile Technology – The Management of Textile Technology, the Harvard Business School – Program for Management Development and the National Cotton Council – Cotton Leadership Program.
Residing in Spartanburg, S.C., Chapman and his wife Lacy have two daughters and three grandchildren.
