JEFFERSON, Ga. – Buhler Quality Yarns Corp., a fine-count yarn supplier and the U.S. subsidiary of Herman Buhler AG Switzerland since 1996, was recently the subject of a Terawatt Power Optimization Case Study.

European Power Management Systems LLC of Atlanta published the case study after it said it assisted the company in reducing its electrical bill by optimizing power demand.

“We are grateful to Edmundo Duarte (of European Power Management Systems) for the time and expertise in making this a successful project,” said Russell Mims, vice president of Operations for Buhler Quality Yarns. “I am pleased to recommend European Power Management Systems.”

According to European Power Management Systems, the project reduced the plant’s electrical bill by an average of 8 percent. In addition to seeing a lower power bill, Buhler now has real-time monitoring of its energy profile, allowing it to identify unnecessary electrical loads that can be avoided.

The new generation and state-of-the art Terawatt intelligent Demand Response, or iDR technology, provides a fully automated, 24-hour demand response optimization based on a customized, proprietary load DR algorithm.

The project energy savings has resulted in an equivalent reduction of 963 tons of carbon dioxide, according to European Power Management Systems.
