VALDESE, N.C. – Valdese Weavers announced a partnership with designer, New York Times best-selling author and blogger Justina Blakeney for a new fabric collection.

Blakeney is the Los Angeles-based artist best known for her award-winning blog The Jungalow, which has an audience of more than 2 million people who love her colorful, bohemian style.

“Justina’s free-spirited aesthetic translates well into textiles,” said Valdese Weavers Chief Creative Officer Laura Levinson, “and it adds a design offering to our product lineup that meets the needs of the Millennial generation.”

The new collection is a youthful group of patterns with an eclectic palette, all based on Blakeney’s original artwork. She worked with the Valdese design team to create textural weaves that emulate handmade global textiles. Rich, saturated colors are woven in heavy cotton and rayon/poly blends. Blakeney’s unexpected geometric drawings are paired with traditional botanical influences, creating a fresh new look.

"From the moment I visited the Valdese folks at their mill in North Carolina, I knew that I had found the perfect partner,” Blakeney said. “Each design tells a story of a place I've traveled to, an important moment in my life or something that inspires me about my neighborhood in Los Angeles. I'm thrilled to bring these designs into people's homes and can't wait to see how they get used."

A portion of the new line, 10 patterns, is being previewed during this week’s High Point Furniture Market through Justina’s upholstery line with Jonathan Louis. The full collection will be launched at Showtime in June.
