SHELBY, N.C. – B&W Fiber Glass, Inc. announced that it has acquired Multiple Winding Co. (MWC), a now wholly owned subsidiary based in Manchester, U.K.
MWC has produced technical textiles for nearly a century. This acquisition will enable B&W to further its vision of providing technically based, value-added textile solutions to the global market, the company said.
B&W will utilize the full infrastructure and existing personnel of MWC to create a seamless transitional period. Through ongoing investment, MWC will continue to develop new product lines, broadening the portfolio and offerings of the company.
Multiple Winding has been operated by the Shaw family since its founding in 1916. Chris Shaw was the owner and managing director at the time of the sale.
“Mr. Shaw has provided us with an incredible opportunity to take MWC forward into the next century of growth,” said B&W President Brent Beason. “It is rare to find an organization in today’s age that shares our family-based values and vision. We welcome the 40-plus MWC team members, along with their customers, to the BWF family.”
BWF will appoint Miguel H. Ferre as general manager of European Operations as well as Christopher Aiken as managing director of U.K. operations. Janet Hardcastle will remain as internal sales liaison. Shaw will remain in an advisory position in the near term.
Founded in 1991, B&W Fiber Glass specializes in customer-specific solutions to a myriad of technical and highly specified end-use applications. The company sells and markets Fulltech E-Glass yarn as a single yarn, plied yarn, textured yarn or on a section beam. The portfolio also consists of a full range of E-Glass FRP products in a variety of sizing combinations ranging from chopped strands to rovings; assembled, direct and textured.
Specialty materials are offered as well, including Fuzetex, Innegra ultra-high modulus olefin fibers, Kamenny Vek basalt fibers and various hybrid/commingled orientations combining carbon, aramid, glass and basalt.
