Increasing access to information across the supply chain to enable manufacturers to identify opportunities to improve product design will be the focus of James Ewell's presentation at the Synthetic Yarn and Fibers Association (SYFA) conference on April 16.

The event, under the theme “Futures In Textiles: Materials, Products, Markets,” will take place at the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.

As a member of the staff that originally founded GreenBlue, Ewell re-joined the organization in 2011 as director of GreenBlue's Sustainable Materials program. During his previous and current tenure at GreenBlue, he helped to establish the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and the NSF/ANSI 336 "Standard for the Assessment of Sustainable Commercial Furnishing Fabrics."

He is currently responsible for managing the CleanGredients database and for developing a new resource called Material IQ. James is also overseeing GreenBlue's sustainable materials management framework, which is informing the future work of the organization. Previously, Ewell was director of Consulting at MBDC, where he developed and implemented criteria for designing and manufacturing sustainable products and improving corporate practices. There he worked with major corporate clients, including Ford Motor Co., P&G, Seventh Generation, Shaw Industries, Victor Group, Energizer and Replenish, among many other companies from a diversity of industrial sectors.
