David Hinks, interim dean of N.C. State’s College of Textiles, will provide insight into the state of the U.S. textile industry at the SEAMS Spring Conference in Asheville, N.C.
The event is schedule for April 23-25 at the Omni Grove Park Inn.
"Even as the industry is showing significant signs of improvement, challenges such as a lack of a trained workforce and gaps in the Made in America supply chain remain," Hinks said.
His presentation, "Advancing the U.S. Textile Enterprise – Public-Private Partnerships, Trends and Opportunities," will focus on the potential for partnerships to be a bulwark for advancing the industry.
Hinks is the Cone Mills Professor of Textile Chemistry and a member of N.C. State's Academy of Outstanding Teachers and Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension.
The SEAMS Conference attracts professionals from across the entire textile, apparel and sewn-products supply chain. Manufacturers, brands, retailers and suppliers are encouraged to make plans to attend today.
