WUPPERTAL, Germany – PHP Fibers, Inc., a subsidiary of Thailand's Indorama Ventures PCL (IVL), announced that it will expand its nylon 6.6 yarn spinning capacity in Scottsboro, Ala.
The investment will also include spinning capacity for high-tenacity polyester targeting airbag and other industrial market segments.
Together with the recent announcement of an investment in an airbag fabric weaving and finishing facility in Germany, this investment underscores IVL’s commitment to the automotive market sector.
“This investment is a clear commitment on the part of our owners and will allow PHP Fibers as a reliable partner to continue delivering high performance filament yarns that our customers need in order to be successful in their businesses,” said Jochen Boos, managing director of PHP Fibers.
The new facility will support the expected demand growth of airbags and other products in the U.S. It is expected that the new unit will commence production in 2018.
