ROCK HILL, S.C. – Springs Creative Products Group, LLC announced the acquisition of the internationally known Ilene Danchig Studio, Documentary Textiles Archive.

More than 100,000 textile pieces and designs will merge with existing designs in the Baxter Mill Archive™, a collection of more than 430,000 fabric swatches, antique documents and books and hand-painted artwork owned by Springs Creative. Once combined, Baxter Mill Archive™ will become one of richest and most diverse textile archives in the world.

“This acquisition is an exciting step for Springs Creative and the Baxter Mill Archive because it solidifies us as a leading inspiration destination for all industries,” said Kathy Phillips, creative director at Springs Creative. “The addition of Ilene’s robust textiles to the Baxter Mill Archives™ creates a truly one-of-a-kind archive, representing design styles, art history and influence from every part of the globe and my team and I cannot wait to work on these treasures.”

Ilene Danchig began her career in the textile industry as a designer and weaver. Danchig’s passion for collecting textiles has led her to amass more than 100,000 antique fabrics and prints from all around the world, representing a vast ethnographic assortment from Mexico, Africa, Thailand, Russia and India. Danchig realized she could sell her unique textiles and art as inspiration to the fashion and home furnishing industries.

“When I began looking for a buyer for my studio, it was very important to me to find an organization that cared about the integrity of textiles just as much as I do,” Danchig said.  “I met Derick (Close, CEO of Springs Creative), Kathy and their team and discovered they not only had an appreciation for what I created and recognized the value of my pieces, but that they would continue to use my archives in an ethical and creative way.”

The Ilene Danchig Studio textiles and documents will be relocated to Rock Hill, S.C., and will be housed in the historic Cotton Factory along with Baxter Mill Archive™. Springs Creative will begin accepting appointments in April for designers of all industries to visit the newly enhanced Baxter Mill Archives™, featuring the Ilene Danchig Studio pieces.

Industry designers are encouraged to explore the full range of services Springs Creative has to offer as a vertically integrated partner, including design and trend services, digital printing, fabrication, and 3PL (third-party logistic) services.

The extensive Baxter Mill Archive’s™ library dates to the mid-1800s and includes treasures such as antique books, hand-painted artwork and original fabric swatches acquired from several of the great textile companies and design studios of the world, including the renowned M. Lowenstein & Sons and the historic Springs collections.

Today, Baxter Mill’s design studio breathes fresh life into the archives by remastering the files and creating new collections with current styles and trends in mind. Once an exclusively in-house design resource, Baxter Mill Archive™ is now a licensed brand and will also continue to serve Springs Creative clients.
