RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Arrive early to the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists’s (AATCC’s) International Conference and attend a Functional Finishes Tutorial.

The tutorial will be presented by Ken Greeson, Cotton Incorporated; Geoffrey Gettliffe, Archroma U.S., Inc.; and Brian Aylward & Karen Welch, Microban.

The pre-conference tutorial will take place Tuesday, April 19 from 2 p.m.-5:15 p.m. at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, Va. The International Conference will be held April 20-21.

Functional finishes are used to impart product enhancements in a variety of ways. They can enhance a fabric or garment’s performance, improve comfort or provide protection to the wearer. This tutorial will focus on finishing technologies and chemistries used to impart wrinkle resistance, control bacterial growth and odor and manage moisture via wicking and repellency.

A separate registration fee is required to participate in the tutorial. A discounted tutorial registration fee will be available to individuals attending the conference.

The conference includes three concurrent tracks:

Concept 2 Consumer® (C2C), Chemical Applications and Materials. Sessions in the C2C track will focus on comfort and performance insight; global impact: concept to consumer, product research and development; print and technology; and color management and LED lighting update.

The Chemical Applications track will address sustainable applications, advances in wet processing, innovative technologies and also include the Herman and Myrtle Goldstein Student Paper Competition.

Presentations in the Materials track will include protective textiles, functional textiles and materials analyses/bio-based materials.
