SAN SALVADOR – One of the ways George C. Moore lives up to its values is throughout the volunteer program it initiated four years ago in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. Based on its commitment to the program each year, the narrow elastic manufacturer was awarded the 2014 Building Solidarity Award by Habitat for Humanity El Salvador.

In four years, employees have helped build housing for 15 families in five different communities located in Ahuachapán, Santa Ana, La Libertad and Sonsonate (El Salvador). Besides financial support and volunteering, they have also beneficiated more than 300 children with values-based activities in each of the communities that they have supported throughout the years.

"We were very interested in finding new ways to give back to our community and we decided to explore volunteering with Habitat for Humanity,” said Andy Dreher, Division president. “It turned out to be an opportunity not just to improve housing conditions for many families but, unexpectedly, a way to strengthen our leadership, communication and teamwork skills.”
