The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA), South Carolina OSHA and the South Carolina National Safety Council (SCNSC) will host the 2016 South Carolina Safety Summit. The summit will take place at The Marriott in Spartanburg, S.C., March 15-17.

Again this year, in addition to regular breakout sessions, two OSHA Training Tracks will be offered, one focusing on General Industry and the other on Construction.

The OSHA 10-hour course for General Industry provides training for every level of worker, both factory floor and administrative. The spirit and intent of the training is to help employees and employers recognize, avoid, abate and prevent safety and health hazards in the workplace. Through this training, OSHA helps to ensure that employees and workers are more knowledgeable about workplace hazards, rights, and responsibilities.

Upon completion of the 10-hour course work, participants will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry wallet card from the OSHA Training Institute (OTI). Courses include: Introduction to OSHA, Walking/Working Surfaces, Exit Routes/Fire Protection/Fire Prevention, Electrical, Personal Protective Equipment, Hazard Communication, Hazardous Materials, Machine Guarding, Material Handling (including lift trucks), Fall Protection and Safety & Health Programs. All subjects will be taught either by OSHA representatives or OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainers.

The OSHA 10-hour course for Construction provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in the construction industry with special emphasis given to the Focus Four Hazards in Construction-Fall Protection, Electrical, Caught In/Between and Struck By. The program also provides information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint with OSHA.

The event will conclude with a Safety Awards Ceremony. If you are a manufacturer, you are eligible to apply. You do not have to be a member of SCMA. Please click here for the application.

The registration fee is $255/person. If you will only attend Thursday, the price is $85/person.
