LEOMINSTER, Mass. – With fabric supplier Microfibres Inc.’s announcement last week that it has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection and will cease operations, Spectro Coating announced that it has already started working with Microfibres’ customers through the transition in order to avoid business interruption.
Microfibres, based in Pawtuckett, R.I., produces primarily upholstery fabrics, with flocked fabric a mainstay of its product line. The 90-year-old company is closing manufacturing and distribution locations in Winston-Salem, N.C., Tupelo, Miss., and Pawtuckett, R.I.
Spectro Coating, based here, is the largest U.S. manufacturer of flock fabrics for upholstery, apparel, automotive and many industrial applications. The family-owned business manufactured flock fabrics for more than 25 years. Spectro has its own flock fiber manufacturing that allows it to dye its own fibers and reduce costs with its vertical integration.
Its team includes:
-
Hemendra Shah – owner and flock industry expert for more than 40 years;
-
Rajesh Shah – vice president;
-
Sergio Pinero – vice president of Business Development; and
-
Wayne Turcotte – national sales manager.
Spectro’s capabilities include fiber-dyed flock fabrics, air emboss patterns, flock-on-flock patterns and flock printing on a variety of fabrics.
