GREENSBORO, N.C. – Burlington, a division of the International Textile Group, Inc. (ITG), along with partner Nester Hosiery, will introduce No Fly Zone® insect repellent socks at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Winter Show, January 7-10 in Salt Lake City.

Extreme conditions require extreme protection. Nester Hosiery meets the challenge with innovative, high-performance socks designed for mountaineers, military personnel, winter athletes and weekend enthusiasts.

"Burlington and Nester share a passion for the outdoors and protecting against extreme elements," said Nelson Bebo, vice president of Burlington Performance Fabrics. "The addition of No Fly Zone® socks provides maximum protection to feet and ankles, which are often left exposed."

Pioneered by the Burlington Labs research team, the advanced No Fly Zone® technology employs Permethrin, a synthetic EPA-registered insect protection for fabrics – the first of its kind and similar to the natural insect repellent found in certain chrysanthemum plants. It works as a contact repellent affecting the insect's nervous system, causing it to fly away before a bite can occur. The patented technology has been proven highly effective against mosquitoes, ticks, ants, chiggers, flies and midges.

"Our customers come to us for the latest innovation and technology in sock manufacturing," said Kelly Nester, president of Mt. Airy, N.C.-based Nester Hosiery. "Burlington No Fly Zone® technology expands our capabilities and gives our customers even more options for creating the most advanced performance outdoor socks in the market."
